Dundas Artist Danuta Niton in her studio

Danuta Niton’s studio is in a charming, cottage-like home peacefully tucked away at the far end of Dundas on Head Street.  This October Danuta’s art filled home and work space will be featured as a guest location during the annual Dundas Studio Tour. Tour goers will have a chance to chat with Ms. Niton about her creative process, purchase her artwork and enjoy the day visiting her lovely gallery and ever-flourishing gardens.

Danuta’s popular Dundas-themed series of historic buildings and landmarks can be purchased as prints or art cards at various stores in Dundas, as well as at the Carnegie Gallery. Besides her drawings, watercolours and acrylic works, Ms. Niton is also well known for her other creative endeavors, including commercial window painting, face painting for children and adults, portraiture, along with her popular “Ease with Easels” social art workshops/classes and painting parties.

“With a background in graphic design, a lot of my inspiration comes from the world around me. Observing buildings, people and nature can spark new ideas. When I sit down to work I focus on trying to depict a specific moment or evoke some sort of emotion. Whether I am creating a new piece or in the middle of teaching a class, that is when I am truly in my element and feel free; creating art soothes me, my mind can wander as my hands work. The theme of this year’s Studio Tour is Metamorphosis and capturing a moment and transforming it into a piece of art is truly a metamorphosis in itself,” she says.

For the Dundas Studio Tour, Danuta will have a selection of new Dundas landmark watercolours available for purchase as either prints, cards and/or originals. Also available will be a series of still life and landscaping paintings, as well as Danuta`s latest pyrography pieces. Pyrography is the art of decorating wood and other materials with burn marks resulting from the controlled application of a heated stylus. Niton has been busy creating a small series of beautifully decorated cork trivets and coasters which make perfect gifts that can also be customized to order.

Also showing with Ms. Niton at her delightful art “cottage” on Head Street during the Dundas Studio Tour are fashion designer Olga Saras and well known potter, Joseph Panacci.

The Dundas Studio Tour runs Saturday, October 1st  and Sunday, October 2nd from 10 am to 5 pm daily, and features thirty-two artists at eight different artist studio where you can meet and mingle with these talented individuals and enjoy their art works, food samples and table-setting inspirations.  The Tour theme for the 2016 Dundas Studio Tour is Metamorphosis.

Admission to the Dundas Studio Tour is free and each studio offers a draw for a special prize.  For more information about the Dundas Studio Tour, call 905-379-7353 or visit the website at www.dundasstudiotour.ca.
