Micheline Godbout Turns a New Leaf for the Dundas Studio Tour

Six years ago child psychologist Micheline Godbout moved to Dundas, purchasing a beautiful century cottage on Cayley Street, dating back to  the 1850’s.

This October 1stand 2nd, she is taking part in the annual Dundas Studio Tour as a tour artist and studio location host.  It all fits perfectly with the Studio Tour’s theme of Turning a New Leaf.

Actually Micheline turned a new leaf in 2002 when she took her first quilting class and literally became hooked on the art form.
Says Micheline, “I originally started quilting classes because my children were grown and studying away from home and I had the extra time.   I was drawn to the art form because I love the feel of the fabric and the freedom I have to choose the colour and the texture and to be able to construct a structure around a particular colour.”

For the  Dundas Studio Tour Micheline will be showing two types of her quilt art with  the one style incorporating traditional motifs in a modern way through the use  of colour, and the other using form  and  colour in a deconstructed, free and abstract manner.

Also  showing with Micheline Godbout at her charming studio location at 17 Cayley Street  will be well known DVSA potter, Mary Shepherd, jewellery designer Deborah  Wilkinson of Ancaster, and, Dundas resident Monica Pollak, designer of Eco-K9, dog  clothing with a conscience.

The 2011 Dundas Studio Tour runs  on Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

The Tour features eight different  artist studios and thirty artists with a variety of food tasting, recipes,  table-setting inspiration, pottery, weaving, textiles, jewellery, blown glass,  and much more.

This year’s tour features  two new studio locations and thirteen new artists; truly the tour has turned a new leaf!

Admission  to the Dundas Studio Tour is free and each studio offers a draw for a special  prize.    For more information about the  Dundas Studio Tour, call 905-379-7353 or visit the website at www.dundasstudiotour.ca.
