The Crowley Court studio of artist Lois Shaw was one of the new studio location for the 2013 Dundas Studio Tour.
Ms. Shaw specializes in still life and portraits using pastels and oils to create images of beauty and drama. She loves the interplay of light and shadow and many of her paintings explore the variety and intensity of light reflected off familiar objects. She has had numerous commissions for family, house and pet portraits as well as for landscape and interior still life images. This past June she returned from a trip to the Caribbean where she was commissioned to paint a large marine mural 7 ½ feet by 18 feet. The mural is a dazzling display of underwater colour featuring a variety of tropical fish rendered in realistic and minute detail. The mural took about two and half weeks to complete, and she worked approximately eight hours each day to finish the commission.
Also showing with Ms. Shaw at her Crowley Court Studio for the Dundas Studio Tour were Evi Pertens, jeweller and Heidi Flint of the Muskoka Soap Company.
‘The Dundas Studio Tour ran Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6 from 10 am to 5 pm daily at seven different artist studios, art, food samples and table-setting inspiration of twenty-seven artists. This year’s theme was Seeing Stars.
