With twelve new guest artists the 15th annual Dundas Studio Tour promises to be a really sweet treat for Tour goers!  Always the weekend before Thanksgiving, the Tour runs Saturday, September 29th and Monday, September 30th and features six studio locations with twenty-seven participating artists.

Dundas photographer Paul Simon is new to the Dundas Studio Your and this year joins the Tour as a guest artist at Beads of Colour, the studio and shop of internationally known bead artist, debi Keir-Nicholson.

Simon is internationally known.  His images can be found in collections throughout the world.  In particular, Simon’s striking photographs of Dundurn Castle are now iconic.

Says Simon, “Every image, whether it is animals, landscapes or buildings tells a story and I get a great deal of satisfaction telling that story through my camera and prints.”

He continues, “Black and white or colour, I find beauty in every subject resulting in a very eclectic portfolio.  Photography allows me to experiment and the variety is very fulfilling.”

Simon is particularly known for his distinctive panoramic views. Using a tripod and a panoramic head, multiple images up to 20 are shot and then pieced together to give the desired effect of an expanse of breathtaking beauty. Favorite subjects of Simon’s include Killarney Provincial Park , the Hamilton area, Tuscany, food, animals, doors and windows, and knobs and knockers.

The 15th annual Dundas Studio Tour runs Saturday, September 29 and Sunday, September 30th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily with twenty-seven participating artists in and around Dundas.  You can enjoy food samples, table-setting inspiration and fabulous pieces of art for purchase — pottery, photography, weaving, textiles, jewellery, blown glass, and more — directly from the Studio Tour artists.

Admission to the Dundas Studio Tour is free and each studio offers a draw for a special prize.  For more information about the Dundas Studio Tour, call 905-379-7353 or visit the website at www.dundasstudiotour.ca.
